Headed up to Alta Loma yesterday with Brian and decided to bring the bikes along to do some exploring in Brian's old back yard. Despite the efforts of some of the local residents to close off the trails we were able to find our way up into the mountains through what has now become goat trails. Great trip and we got to see some snow up close and personal.
This is the return trip, to Shiga. Back in early November 2008, five of us went into this area for a weekend of mountain-biking, as well as other activities. Upon our return we vowed to return in winter, when there was some snow about, for some snow riding. But, as you can see, we were unable to venture very far, because of the depth of the snow. This made biking almost, if not, impossable.
Water Taxi across both Upper and Lower Echo Lakes. Hike the Pacific Crest trail to Lake Aloha. Scrabble up a glacier moraine to Jabu Lake. Then back down and out.
